You Keep Hoping It’s Just a Phase
Your kid is having a hard time, and so are you.
You keep hoping they’ll grow out of the meltdowns, the irritability, the control battles. But it isn’t getting better. Some days it feels worse.
And underneath the worry sits a thought you haven’t said out loud:
What if this is somehow my fault?
You’ve tried staying patient. Setting limits. Talking it through at bedtime.
But some feelings are too big for a kid to handle with parenting alone. They come out sideways instead:
- A meltdown over something small.
- A door that closes and stays shut.
- A kid who's gone quiet and won't say why.
You’d give anything to know what’s going on in there.
Your child needs a place that’s just theirs, and you need a hand too.

Your family can feel lighter. Get started today.

A kid’s big feelings need somewhere to go. At home they come out as fighting, withdrawing, melting down.
So we give your child a warm, neutral place of their own to understand what they feel and find words for it.
And we coach you, too, so you know what to do when the big feelings show up.
What the work looks like for your family
Sessions move at your child’s pace, and you’re part of the team from day one.
Your child starts feeling better, and you start feeling capable.
- Help your child name what they feel instead of acting it out.
- Give you language to cool a moment before it boils over.
- Build new ways to handle disappointment and frustration together.
- Coordinate with schools and doctors when it helps.
- Bring back room for play, laughter, and ordinary good days.

How We Get Your Family From Crisis to Flow
Intake and getting to know you
The first session is easy and relaxed, with your child and you together. I get to know what’s hard, what they like, and what they’re good at. The more I know, the better I can help.
Getting to work
Once I know your family, we try new ways through the hard moments: strategies for big feelings, language to de-escalate, and help for your child to understand their own thoughts. We work as a team so life feels better.
Keeping the flow
After the first months, trust is built and the new patterns hold. Confidence grows for the whole family, and it gets easier to relax and enjoy each other again. We’re out of the crisis and into the flow.
Why Trust Us as Your Partner in Healing
We coach parents, too
Your child gets support that’s all their own, and you get practical help for the moments that happen at home.
A room even reluctant kids return to
Real change happens inside a real relationship, so we take the time to build one your child actually wants to come back to.
Built around real life
We problem-solve everyday stresses and coordinate with schools and doctors, so progress holds where your child actually lives.

The People Your Kid Will Actually Want to Talk To
Walk into our Exton office and it doesn’t look like the waiting room you might be picturing. There are soft pillows and blankets. A candy jar and a basket of fidgets. Toys and art supplies sitting out on the shelves, within arm’s reach.
Our clinicians are relaxed, relatable, and easy to be around. We make therapy seem like no big deal, because for your kid, it really shouldn’t feel like one.
Our clinicians are all Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and between us we’ve been doing this work for more than two decades. Our training covers play therapy, child development, and DBT, along with ecotherapy, yoga philosophy, and LGBTQAI+ supportive care. EMDR is offered through our associate clinician, Kelly Wood, who is EMDR-certified.
Parents tell us they didn’t see this part coming: their kids actually want to come back. The resistant teenager keeps showing up. The skeptical parent turns into the biggest advocate.
Willow Tree is a private-pay practice based in Exton, working with children as young as three and teens into early adulthood.
Frequently Asked Questions
Children often can’t yet put big feelings into words, so they show them through behavior instead. We give your child their own space to understand those feelings, and give you tools for home.
Most families meet weekly for the first month or so while we build trust. Many parents see small shifts once their child feels truly known, though deeper change takes time.
Yes. We work with little ones through young adults, adjusting how we connect to fit your child’s age, from play for the youngest to real conversation with teens.
You stay involved. We check in with you regularly so you know what’s happening and what to try at home, because helping you is part of helping your child.
That’s common, and it’s okay. Early sessions are low-pressure and a little like detective work, figuring out the mystery together, and most kids warm up once they feel no one’s there to fix them.
