Play therapy allows kids to move beyond their stuck emotions and feel relief through sharing honestly through their play.
Your Child’s Meltdowns Don’t Seem Normal Anymore
You know tantrums and meltdowns are part of being a kid. But this doesn’t seem normal.
There shouldn’t be this many of them. And they shouldn’t be this big.
You should be able to calm your own child down. Instead, everything feels harder than it should.
You’ve tried everything. Nothing seems to work. And you’re getting more tired and more frustrated by the week.
You’re scared that if this is what their feelings look like now, how will you ever make it through the teenage years?
Sensitive Kids Have Big Reactions
Sometimes, it’s a sensory thing. Sometimes, it’s a fight for independence. Sometimes, it’s fear, anxiety, or a sadness with no clear reason behind it.
Lots of things create big feelings in a little kid. And big feelings are hard to manage in little bodies and little brains.
When You’re Confused and Tired, Parenting Is EXTRA Hard
The daily list is already long. The schedule, the meals, the laundry, the endless shuttling from one activity to the next.
Then come the meltdowns over shoes, or drop-off, or turning off the iPad. Big fights about the smallest things; fights that don’t seem to make any sense.
Some days you feel pushed right off the edge. Other days you’re barely hanging on.
None of this means you’re doing it wrong.
Yes, They’re Little, but Therapy Works for Them, Too
Kids don’t always have the words to explain what they feel.
When Feelings Show Up as Behavior
When the words run out, the feelings come out sideways. A meltdown is your child telling you something they can’t yet say.
In play therapy, we give them a better way to say it.
Our offices are full of toys chosen for one reason: to help kids show the feelings they don’t understand themselves.
We watch what your child reaches for and how they play. Sometimes, we follow your child’s lead and see where the play goes. Other times, we bring out a puppet show or a family drawing to open a door gently.
Either way, the play shows us what’s really going on. And it shows us how to help.
Helping Parents Understand What Their Child Needs
You’re part of this work, too. We bring you into the playroom, not just the waiting room.
And we’ll help you know what to do at home, long before the next hard moment hits.
Fewer meltdowns is only part of it. The rest is feeling close to your kid again.
Enjoy Your Kid Again
What if you knew exactly what to do when the meltdown hit? What if you understood what was really bothering them?
What if you felt confident and in control while your kid was falling apart?
We can help you get there. Send us an email. We’ll set up a quick, free consultation.
And you’ll start feeling hopeful for the first time in a while.

Questions parents ask about play therapy
-
Our playroom is set up on purpose. We have specific toys that help kids express feelings, tell their stories, and show us where the hard parts are.
As they play, we interpret and validate what we’re seeing. We use a non-directive approach, which means we follow your child’s lead so they feel safe, understood, and supported.
-
For the first session, always. We want one or both parents there so we get the full picture of your child’s development.
After that, we’ll coach you on how to stay present while giving your child room to be themselves.
Over time, we usually work toward your child being comfortable alone with us. We do that carefully, always with plenty of support.
-
Keep it simple and positive. You can say you’re going to meet someone whose job is to help kids with their feelings.
We’ll want to hear your child’s story and what makes them who they are, and then we’ll make a plan together. You’ll be in the room for that first session, so the whole thing stays light and low-pressure.
