Teen Therapy

The teenage years are the most vulnerable, exciting, and expanding years of a young person’s life.
You Know Your Daughter Isn’t Herself
You’re a good parent. And you’re worried about your kid.
You know something’s wrong. She’s not herself, and she’s clearly not happy. She won’t talk to you, won’t go anywhere, won’t do anything.
Some days she looks so sad. Other days, she’s angry.
She’s a good kid who’s having a hard time. And you really don’t want that hard time to turn into a hard life.
You’re Not Sure if This Is Normal or Something More
You’ve asked yourself the same question a hundred times. Is this ordinary teenage behavior, or is something actually wrong?
Even a good parent can’t always tell the difference from the outside. That’s our job.
The teenage years are some of the most vulnerable, expanding years of a person’s life. She’s working out who she is, who she wants to be, and how to like herself along the way.
Add anxiety, or loneliness, or some old hurt she’s never said out loud. On top of that, the ordinary work of growing up gets a lot harder.
We Work with Your Teen, and We Coach You
Most therapists see the teenager and leave the parents in the waiting room. We do it differently.
Your daughter is our client. From the first session, we set it up so that you stay involved.
Roughly every other session, we check in with you: what you’re seeing at home, what’s shifting, what still worries you. We coach you while we support her.
She needs to understand herself. You need to understand her. And both of those have to happen at the same time.
What Therapy Actually Looks Like for Your Daughter
Together with your daughter, we work like detectives solving a mystery, tracing a feeling back to where it first took root.
Often it isn’t one big trauma, but a small moment of rejection that quietly became a belief about herself.
We help her see that the thoughts she’s been living inside aren’t facts. With practice, she learns to think differently.
We teach her real skills for the hard moments: calming her body, asking for what she needs before a conversation blows up, getting through a rough night without making it worse.
She doesn’t have to trust us right away, have it all figured out, or even talk much at first.
Most of the teens we see swore they’d never do therapy. A lot of them keep coming back.
Get Your Daughter Back, and Your Footing as Her Parent
Over time, the goal is real, lasting change.
It looks like your daughter handling a hard day on her own and telling you about it afterward. It sounds like her saying, “Yes, I get anxious, and I know what to do about it.”
And it looks like you knowing when to lean in and when to step back. Confident in her growth, instead of watching from the sidelines, afraid.
